Recent Events & Media Placements

February is I Love to Read Month and Sigma's Bookshelf, the first and only book publishing company exclusively for teen writers, has several events planned to celebrate. Our first big event was at Wayzata Central Middle School in Plymouth, Minn. on Feb. 7.
This is the school two of our young authors attend. Ellie Abood and Aashna Kshirsagar co-wrote Throne Spirits when they were in 6th grade. They are 7th graders now and helped lead a presentation on novel writing for this year's 6th grade class. Throne Spirits is the story of Princess McKenna Monakean, who has always felt like she and her older sister, Claire, would never get along. But when a ghost comes to haunt them, that changes everything. The girls must work together to eliminate a threat to the future of their kingdom. Will they figure out what a relative from the past is trying to tell them in time?
A TV story about the event aired on CCX Media's newscast the next day. CCX Media is the cable news outlet for the Twin Cities' northwest suburbs.
Next up, a presentation for deaf and hard of hearing teens who are interested in writing at the office of MN Hands & Voices in St. Paul on Feb. 16. Visits to St. James Schools, Marshall Schools, the Sejong Academy in St. Paul and Dassel Cokato Schools are also planned this month.
So is the novel writing for teens workshop that will be held at the Hopkins Center for the Arts on Sat & Sun., Feb. 23 and 24. Space is still available and cost is just $50. Register online via the Eventbrite link on the front page of the Sigma's Bookshelf website.
