A busy weekend ahead for Colin Mustful, author, Resisting Removal: The Sandy Lake Tragedy of 1850. He had two television appearances in Duluth, Minn., this Friday to promote the release of his historical novel. He was interviewed on both the KBJR (NBC) and WDIO (ABC) television stations on Fri., Sept. 27 to talk about his participation in The Wisconsin Historical Society’s Commemoration of the Treaty of 1854 activities, happening at the Madeline Island Museum in LaPointe, Wisc., on Sept. 28.
This year marks the 165th anniversary of the signing of the treaty which established the first Ojibwe Indian reservations, and stipulated the rights of the Ojibwe to hunt, gather and fish in the ceded territories. The treaty was signed at LaPointe on Madeline Island.
Mustful’s novel examines the history of the Ojibwe people of Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin and how they came to be established on the reservations where they live today. Colin Mustful is a Minnesota author and historian who has made it his mission to tell history through fiction.
