Mary Anders Gobar and Rev. Alan Pritz. small(Minnetonka, Minn.) – The next time you feel like pursuing personal or spiritual growth, want bodywork, energy healing, or need someone with whom to discuss various life issues, it may be time to schedule an appointment with a professional. But who should you see? A psychologist, a meditation teacher, Interfaith minister/spiritual counselor, a massage therapist, an energy healer, a fitness instructor, a nutritionist, an acupuncturist or all of the above?

Over the years Mary Anders Gobar, a licensed psychologist from Minnetonka, has found herself referring clients to the complementary services they need. “I have a lot to offer for their growth, their healing and well-being, yet there are other providers and treatments that can be very beneficial to their overall development too,” says Anders Gobar. “People who are going through a difficult time in their lives can benefit greatly from a whole person approach that also incorporates massage, yoga, exercise and spirituality. Utilizing these along with psychotherapy seems to bring the best results overall, so I thought to myself why not have all those services available under one roof.”

So, earlier this year she put the word out on the Minnesota Holistic Healthcare Network that she was looking to partner with other professionals. Anders Gobar made a significant connection with Rev. Alan L. Pritz of South Minneapolis, who specializes in meditation training and spiritual coaching & counseling. Together they opened the Areté Center in Minnetonka in June of this year.

Areté is an ancient Greek word that in its basic sense means excellence of any kind. Sometimes translated as "virtue,” the word actually means something closer to "being the best you can be,” or "reaching your highest human potential.”

The new Center, located at 700 Twelve Oaks Center Drive, Suite 734, offers access to a collection of services you don’t often find under one roof. Anders Gobar works with a wide range of clients, including adolescents, adults, couples and families, who are dealing with such problems such as depression, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD, eating disorders, grief and loss. Rev. Pritz offers meditation training, spiritual guidance and counseling services for persons of all ages and with a wide range of backgrounds and motivations. His services are commonly sought for spiritual growth, greater meaning, purpose, and direction, creating work/life balance, fostering lasting relationships, managing stress, or handling life issues from a spiritual perspective. Both assist people going through significant transitions or simply seeking to optimize their potential.

In their current office space, which overlooks a vast wetland complete with cattails, pond lilies and open water, they have a large waiting area, multiple offices, a kitchen and a group education room. “When we found this space it just seemed right so we snapped it up,” says Anders Gobar.

“The wetlands are a huge draw. The natural setting is very complementary to the whole aspect of balance and harmony,” says Rev. Pritz. “Certain things you can talk to people about; others come silently from environment. This space instills a calm tranquility that you need not discuss; folks will just feel it.”

Rev. Pritz and Anders Gobar are already seeing clients in the new space. Talks are underway to have a nutritionist / health coach, massage therapist, yoga and fitness instructor, energy healer, plus an oriental medicine specialist join the Center soon.

“Our goal is to help people who are doing fine and seeking enhanced wellness in addition to assisting persons who are in crisis or dealing with chronic issues,” says Anders Gobar.

“This is a total body, mind, spirit services practice,” adds Rev. Pritz.

Right now professionals focus on their own specialties and refer internally as appropriate but once all partners are onboard, mixed-services packages may be offered. In-network providers for Mary’s psychological services include Medica, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Preferred One and Health Partners. Rev. Pritz is a contracted referred provider for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of MN.
