The Twin Cities Book Festival drew a strong crowd of book enthusiasts to the Minnesota State Fair Grounds on Oct. 13. Both the RMA Publicity and Sigma's Bookshelf tables had a steady stream of visitors all day long.
At the RMA Publicity table, I answered questions about publicity, while several of the authors I work with sold books. Meantime, over at the Sigma's Bookshelf table, seven of our teen authors staffed the table throughout the day. They got great support from the crowd, selling more than 20 books total. Not bad for a day's work!

One of the best ways to get the word out about a book is to get it reviewed in the local newspaper. Congratulations to Gary Peter, who teaches at the University of Minnesota. His short story collection, Oranges, has just been reviewed by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Reviewer Claude Peck says "Convincing and humane, these stories introduce a welcome voice that expertly exposes foibles and gently reveals how we hurt and help and love one another. Oranges, which has been published by New River Press, launched on Oct. 10, Quatrefoil Library in Minneapolis. Gary's next event is at the Twin Cities Book Festival, Oct. 13, at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. On Oct. 26, beginning at 7 p.m. , he will do a reading and signing at Common Good Books, 38 S. Snelling Av., St. Paul; and on Nov. 7 at 4 p.m., he will sign books at the University of Minnesota Bookstore, Coffman Union.
