(Edina, Minn.) – Dances Through Glass: A 25-Year Retrospective of Work By Photographer and Painter Polly Norman has been recognized as one of the best
books published in the Midwest in 2013.
The book won three categories of the 24th Annual Midwest Book Awards competition. Winners were announced at a gala celebration the evening of May 14. The event took place at the Olson Campus Center at Luther Seminary in St. Paul.

Norman’s book begins with an essay titled, “Soaring and Crashing.” In it she reveals her psychological struggles with manic depression. She writes, “To deal with the chaos in my life, I escape into the prism of glass, dancing to the visual music in my mind. My photographs express my interior movement from darkness into light and back again.”
“I am thrilled Dances Through Glass, a book that reflects my life's work and passion, has received such honors!” exclaimed Norman.
Copies of Dances Through Glass are available for purchase at Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com. The book retails for $49.95. More information can be found at http://www.pollynormanart.com.
