Forrest Carr, author of Messages and A Journal of the Crazy Year, discussed his novels on Tucson's Power Talk 1210 on Jan. 12. Carr is a former television news director whose books were inspired by his job.
A Journal of the Crazy Year is the story of a man named John who has just been released from a mental institution and finds the world crumbing around him. The formerly "crazy" people are now sane and everyone else is turning into zombies.
The cause might be the recurrence of a global pandemic from the early 1900s, or a huge comet passing through the solar system. John doesn’t care what's behind the chaos. His only concern is saving his beloved wife, Maria, from certain death.
Messages gives readers a look at newsroom politics from an insider's perspective. For more information, visit www.forrestcarr.com.
Congratulations to RJ Petrella. A very favorable review just came in from Midwest Book Review for his novel, Days of the Giants.
It reads…. "A riveting and enjoyable read from first page to last, 'Days Of The Giants' is an expertly crafted mystery with many an unexpected plot twist and surprising turn. Clearly documenting author R. J. Petrella as a master of the mystery/suspense genre, 'Days Of The Giants' is very highly recommended for mystery fans and community library collections. It should be noted that 'Days Of The Giants' is also available in a paperback edition 9780988628007, $19.99) and a Kindle edition ($3.99)." -Midwest Book Review

Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the holiday season.
Now that another New Year has arrived, it is time to put a marketing and publicity plan in place for your book if you haven’t done one already. A publicity plan is similar to the marketing plan you are required to develop to get your book into bookstores. The most significant difference between the two is that in a marketing plan you determine your target audience and how to reach them. A publicity plan is for determining how to get your book – and you – mentioned in as many media forms as possible – reviews, TV, newspaper, radio, online, etc.
If your book was published in 2014 or earlier, you likely have experience at this already and need only refine your plan for 2015. If your book is scheduled for release in 2015, don’t wait until it comes back from the printer. Now is the time to start thinking about marketing and publicity.
Here are 10 tips to get you started.
